Events of 2024

The year 2024 was a year of significant changes and challenges in the energy market. Straumlind faced rising wholesale prices and difficult market conditions but ensured competitive pricing while leading innovation in electricity sales.

One of Straumlind's most important initiatives of the year was supporting Grindavík following earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. In December 2023, Straumlind decided to grant all customers in Grindavík a 100% discount on electricity usage. Due to continued uncertainty, this support was extended until April 2024. In small communities, solidarity and compassion are vital, and at Straumlind, we felt it was our duty to provide whatever assistance we could.

The Straumlind team gained a new member during the year, and work on advancing and improving the efficiency of the electricity system is in full swing. Straumlind has proven to be a key player in driving progress and fostering a healthy electricity market. A strong and healthy electricity system, along with fair competition, are essential components of a prosperous society—something we are proud to help build.

Straumlind offers some of the lowest electricity prices in the market and welcomed many new customers this year, including both households and businesses. Additionally, the municipalities of Akureyri and Vestmannaeyjar joined as clients following tenders where Straumlind's offer was the most competitive.

Despite a challenging year, we cannot help but feel immensely proud of what we have accomplished for our customers and society. We look forward with optimism and are eager to continue our development efforts and contribute further to improving the electricity system and society as a whole.
